How Spotify Can Inspire Your Next Audition Song
Feeling like your audition book of music might need a facelift? Getting tired of singing the same songs for the same casting director over and over again?
With Spotify, it’s easy to find the perfect tunes for your next audition. There are millions of tracks on Spotify to explore - all right at your fingertips. Choose what you want to listen to, or let Spotify surprise you!
Here are four ways Spotify can inspire your next audition song.
1. Spotify has a HUGE catalog of music and cast recordings
There are at least 30 million songs on Spotify. That means you're very likely to find all, or nearly all, of the songs you could want to stream in Spotify. Almost every iteration of every musical is on there… original Broadway cast recordings, revivals, covers, the London cast, etc.
2. Follow your friends for inspiration
Spotify allows you the option of ‘following’ your friends. If your friend has the page set to public, you can see what they’re listening to in real time. If they’re in musical theatre, chances are they are doing the same as you!
3. Create a radio station from your favorite musicals
Have a musical you really vibe with? Discover new music by making a Spotify radio station. You can create a radio station with any song, album, artist, or playlist, and Spotify will play music based on that. Sift through songs of similar styles to find tunes to put into your audition book!
4. Browse already existing audition playlists
You’d be surprised how many playlists exist on Spotify that are geared towards auditioning! Look up artists like pop/rock guru Sheri Sanders for playlists featuring hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s that make perfect audition songs! Peruse through musical theatre playlists for specific auditions like Hamilton, Beautiful, Disney and more.
