100+ Theaters That Offer EMC Points to Actors
Many actors write to me asking exactly which theaters offer EMC points.
Wondering the same thing? You’re in luck!
Actors' Equity Association, the performing arts union for stage actors and stage managers, has a program that allows non-union actors to work towards joining the union by earning points at participating theaters. Each week worked at a participating theatre is equal to 1 point. This is called the Equity Membership Candidate (or EMC) program.
At this time, actors must earn 25 points (or work 25 weeks at participating theaters) in order to be eligible to join Equity. To register for the program, you first must book a job at an Equity theatre that offers the Equity Membership Candidate program.
